Certification Criteria
All projects presented for certification must meet BECC’s six certification criteria:

  • General—relating to the basic requirements of jurisdiction;
  • Human Health and the Environment—the project must address a specific health problem or need and comply with environmental guidelines;
  • Technical Feasibility—the technology used must be appropriate for the goal of the project;
  • Financial Feasibility and Project Management—the financial model must be self-sufficient and include a viable operational plan;
  • Public Participation—the community must participate in the analysis and design of the project;
  • Sustainable Development—the project must be developed with sustainability concepts for future feasibility.
